CWNY – Social Worker Job Description
The Center for the Women of New York (CWNY) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the equality, advancement, and well-being of women. CWNY’s mission is to support, and advocate for women who face financial, housing, food insecurity, health, violence, social, emotional, or legal problems by understanding their needs and connecting them with CWNY services and city resources they need to overcome their challenges. We seek a Social Worker with a deep understanding of and commitment to public interest to provide critical social support services to women in our community.
Overview of the Role:
The Social Worker will develop a program to provide services in connection with CWNY’s EmpowHer program. The Social Worker will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary team which works closely together to address social, personal, employment, and legal challenges that women in crisis face. The Social Worker will also supervise CWNY interns and volunteers.
Primary Duties:
● Develop a program to provide integrated services such as referrals for housing, wellness, education, and employment programs and resources
● Train and supervise volunteers and, if Seminar Training In Field Instruction (SIFI)-certified, act as a field supervisor of volunteers who are assigned to mentor and support CWNY participants
● Work with CWNY’s partners to maintain a current database of resources
● Perform intake assessments of incoming participants
● Attend meetings as required
● Keep records and progress on participants using CWNY referrals and case management software
● Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications:
● LMSW
● Experience in program development
● Experience providing supervision
● Experience working with adult clients
● Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
● Ability to work within a team and motivate and mentor others
Location: Kew Gardens Location
Hours: 20/wk
Compensation: $35-$40 per hour
