CWNY celebrates International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the accomplishments of women worldwide. It is also a day to rally around the calls for gender parity around the globe.
The growing international women’s movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women’s conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas. — United Nations
International Women’s Day aligns with the annual session at the UN of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s and girls’ rights, documenting the reality of their lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. – UN Women
